yarn

The knitted yarn on the ‘Peacemakers’ loom was cast off and rolled into a ball.  The ball was placed on the communion table in the the chancel of Renfield St. Stephen’s Church, Glasgow.   ‘This Ball of Peace’ was in stark contrast to the dark wooden panelling of the First World War memorial and was a visual counterpoint to the loom, sited at the opposite end of the sanctuary.   Over the three and a half years of the project, as the knitting was cast off and wound together, the ball grew to over a metre in diameter.
