During Advent, the four weeks preceding Christmas, this installation hung in the sanctuary of Renfield St.Stephen’s Church, Glasgow. The words ‘gloria in excelsis deo’ were cut into paper shopping bags, which were then filled to the brim with straw. The latin text comes from the angels’ song to the shepherds, announcing the birth of Jesus.
